Starting Search Engine Optimization for Your Real Estate Site
Search engines routinely index (spider) all types of web sites. When they do this they normally index all the textual content on the site. However, they pay special attention to certain hidden areas called "Meta Data". These areas include a site title, keywords and description.
Additionally, writing unique and descriptive content for your site and listings will help your search engine ranking.
Tips:
-
Include lots of geographical content in your site title and content areas. (I.e. "Tim Jones - Orem Utah" or "We service Provo, Orem, American Fork and Pleasant Grove.")
-
Make sure to provide content with some substance. Provide more than a couple of sentences on your home page, about us page, and other content areas. This will give the search engines more information to add to their index and help you rank higher.
-
Trade links with other businesses or web sites that you work with. By linking to each other you increase your possibility of being ranked higher.
-
Time matters. The longer you have been around on the web the more likely you are to be found in search engines. Do not give up on being listed if you do not see your site for a few months. Continue to trade links and market your site. It will always be a great credibility factor for use in your marketing arsenal.
-
Repetitiveness. The more times your location and other keywords appear in your site, the easier it will be for the search engines to find you. Try putting in your keywords as many times as you can while still keeping on track with your site.
